Photograph of the modello for the marble sculpture of Cupid and Psyche (Psyche revived by Cupid's Kiss) by Antonio Canova (Possagno 1757 - Venice 1822). The sculpture was first commissioned in 1787 by Colonel John Campbell. The story of Cupid and Psyche is taken from Lucius Apuleius' Latin novel The Golden Ass and was popular in art.
