Summary
Grand pianoforte inscribed on the fascia Patent Erard London. Serial number 8767 and dated 1865 on the hammer head for note AAA. The case veneered in figured walnut resting on three turned and tapered hexagonal legs. The keyboard compass AAA – a4. The instrument fitted with a modified version of Erard’s patent (1821) repetition action, metal hitchplate and braces, and the firm’s patent metal ‘Resonator’ below the soundboard. Pedal lyre with two pedals, the left for due corde and the right for dampers. Fitted fretwork music desk and hinged lid prop-stick to interior.
