Summary
A mahogany library table, in the 18th century Gothic manner, English, circa 1850, probably by Gillows of Lancaster, the rectangular top fitted with two rising rests or easels, and with moulded edge and projecting squared corners. Fitted to each long frieze with two short drawers each with unusual pierced brass angular bale handles. The four legs formed from cluster columns with central knops and on plinth bases. The locks marked 'Harts Patent Lock and Key Company, First Class, London'. -- In the Top Hall from circa 1915 to circa 1960.

Purchased by the National Trust by private treaty sale from Lord St Oswald in 2010.
