Box file, in marbled paper, with alphabetical card dividers inside, on sliding metal clip in wooden spine; for indexing letters. Top card printed: Amberg's Patent Indexes … No. 103 T. Spine label, printed 'Letters' and inscribed: The Countess of Stamford | January 1916. Leather tag at foot of spine. Metal fastener on lid has partly warped, tearing lid. Formerly: School Room ; originally used for papers of Elizabeth Penelope Grey, Countess of Stamford; papers transferred to John Rylands Research Institute and Library, University of Manchester
