Summary
Manuscript letter signed by representatives of the Altrincham Urban District Council to the Right Honourable the Earl of Stamford, dated: 27 October, 1917, asking Lord Stamford to accept the binoculars sent under separate cover as a memento of his coming of age, and regretting that it is not possible to proceed with their scheme of celebration "owing to the deplorable war." Signatories: Godfrey Wm. Bonson, Chairman of the Council, and W. Stanley Stokoe, Clerk and scribe. Bearing colour embossed armorial device at head. Formerly 'Glazed bookcase 3rd drawer.'
