Summary
Autograph letter signed by H.E. Eccleston, Chairman, Stretford Branch Tariff Reform League, to the Rt Hon Earl of Stamford; dated: 7 1 1917 [perhaps 7.11.1917?]. The letter is marked "Private" and is headed by a significant list of members of the League. The writer expresses his congratulations to Lord Stamford on coming of age, on behalf of the Committee, and continues with the hope that he "will assist in fighting the commercial war, after the present one" and states their "wish to stop all German goods coming into this country free of all charges." On the headed paper of Stetford Conservative Club, crossed through and replaced with inscribed heading of the League. Formerly 'Glazed bookcase 3rd drawer.'
