Summary

Autograph letter signed from Victoria RI (Queen Victoria of Great Britain) to Catherine Maria Vaughan, expressing her sympathy and concern at the death of Catherine's husband, Charles Vaughan, Bishop of Llandaff. On five sides, one sheet folded, with black borders, headed with Victoria's monogram at Balmoral castle; dated: Oct: 16, 1897. Together with envelope, also bordered in black, with Queen's monogram and black armorial wax seal; addressed to: Mrs Vaughan Deanery Llandaff; postmarked: Aberdeen Oc 17 97.

Stamford collection; devised to the National Trust by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976).
