Summary
One of two long crepe paper banners, each with a repeating nighttime snow scene featuring a large house, the windows lit up, against a deep blue night sky with a crescent moon and stars. A horse-drawn, open-topped carriage carries its occupants over a small bridge towards the building and a second house can be seen in the background. The palette consists of deep blue, white, black and yellow/orange; the shadows are picked out in green. ' "MADE IN ENGLAND" ' is repeated in green along the bottom edge of each banner.
Provenance
Stamford collection; devised to the National Trust by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976).
