Summary
Rectangular card with narrow, handpainted, red watercolour border and highly decorative embossing around the edge featuring trees, flowers, birds and a cherub, etc. A handpainted silk butterfly has been applied to the centre of the card surounded by handpainted wildflowers, and a tiny signature in black ink can be seen in the bottom left of the card, 'J. Grey / 1825. The bottom of the card is discreetly embossed 'DOBBS'. On the reverse, handwritten in black ink, appears: 'A little remembrance from / the Lady Jane Grey, done very / hastily just before her marriage. / November 1825. Wrapped in a piece of paper, on which is handwritten in faded black ink, 'Butterfly, a keepsake / for MG - from Lady Jane Grey / 1828'.
