Summary
Plain oak side rail with rebated top edges, to one of which is tacked a short length of canvas with rope holes along the long, loose edge; the canvas runs the length of the rail but is coming adrift and is frayed. There is a bolt hole at each end, though both bolts are missing, and 'II' is incised at each end of the rail in a crescent shape with a similar shape crossing them through.
Provenance
Stamford collection; devised to the National Trust by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976).
