Summary
Rough plank of wood with a small protrusion at each end and some nails/tacks, possibly part of an upper inner tester at the head of a bed, the many tacks marks suggesting it supported a back cloth, or was at least covered in textile (some textile fragments remain). One side is very clean and one side is very dirty.
Provenance
Stamford collection; devised to the National Trust by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976).
