Summary
Retractable hearth brush; slim extending brass handle with hanging ring at top, japanned and with an intricate colour and gilt floral and scroll pattern; cylindrical leather brush cover with similar intricate pattern and internal pin with screw thread on the end, presumably to which to attach brush heads. Captured in the 1883 photograph of the Great Gallery, hanging on the wall to the left of the fireplace.
