Summary
Embroidered canvas; linen, plain weave, balanced open mesh, square. Tent stitch worked diagonally; wool dyed grey, beige, two shades of mauve, two shades of red, two shades of pink, purple, three shades of blue/green, two shades of grass green, russet, orange, three shades of yellow, and four shades of brown. Based on eighteenth century embvroidery patterns, flowers and leaves, including tulips, to apreviously drawn design. Two selvages, hemmed on two sides and unfinished. Almost certainly worked by Lady Stamford (1864-1959).
