Handmade and handpainted conical paper lampshade with watercolour decoration and gold detailing: black base, burnt yellow sky and blue and green middle ground detail; fairies in yellow, green and purple outfits, blue hats and with wings carry lanterns, the lantern heads and fairies' wings are of handpainted tissue applied to the reverse of cut-out sections of the shade through which the light can shine. The pattern was probably drawn on in pencil and later gone over in black ink.
