Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Roger Grey, Lord Grey of Groby, later 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976) as a Child, British (English) School, c.1900. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a young child, in a white shirt. Blue eyes, and fair hair. Trees and sky in the background. The piece was probably commissioned by his parents and painted from a photograph. Set in a gold locket which is mounted on velvet in ornate gilt frame.
