Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Margaret Henrietta Maria Grey, Lady Milbank (d. 1852), by a follower of Sir William Charles Ross (London 1794-London 1860). c.1852. Oval. Half-length portrait of a young woman, head turned slightlly to the right, gazing down to the right, wearing a purple dress over a white chemise trimmed with lace, a blue brooch and lace cap with pink ribbons. She has brown eyes, smooth black hair with centre parting, and is aged about twenty five. Greenish scumbled background, lit from the left.

Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford, 'Notes on Dunham Massey Hall Miniatures, 25 May 1960': "The group of miniatures on the white marble table at the top of the grand staircase are as follows:- 4) Their daughter [Lord and Lady Grey of Groby], Margaret Henrietta Maria Grey"; Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford, 'Notes on the busts, portraits and miniatures on the grand staircase at Dunham Massey Hall, 23 July 1974': "4) On the white marble table at the top of the staircase... There are also two miniatures of the 7th Earl and his sister, Lady Margaret Grey, who married Mr. Henry Milbank"; Devised to the National Trust by the 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976).
