Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Lady Henrietta Charlotte Elizabeth Wemyss-Charteris, Countess of Stamford (1773-1838), by Alexander Pope (Cork 1763-London 1835). 1823. Rectangular. Half-length portrait of a woman, wearing a white dress and black mantilla, her head leaning on her arm, reading a letter from her son dated 1810. She has grey eyes, dark hair and a pale complexion. Red curtain background. The piece is inscribed on the back, 'Miniature of my beloved mother copied by Mr. Pope for Lady J. Grey May 1823 / Henrietta Charlotte Elizabeth / the Countess of Stamford Daughter of Lord Elcho'.
