Summary
Wooden coffer, silver chest 1, with hinged lid and iron metalwork around sides, on corners and straps from side-to-side and front-to-back; brass plaque on front 'THE EARL OF STAMFORD'; historic blue card label and brass lock on which is engraved the details for Carrington & Co. Silversmiths; a handwritten inventory of contents (?) on Carrington & Co. headed paper is pinned to the inside of the baize-lined lid; the interior is lined with blue/red/black marbled (?) paper; two baize-lined lift-out trays with textile handles and compartments for individual items.

Stamford collection; devised to the National Trust by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976).
