Summary
Brown paper envelope, once containing '"Accountancy", the monthly journal for income & ... accountants', as indicated by black stamp above address section of envelope. The address, handwritten in pencil, has been covered over by a cream piece of gummed paper stuck to the envelope, on which is handwritten (in ink), 'Chapel Silk / odd bits [underlined] / made for Chapel 1906-7 / (Binding and Braid in / another packet nearby)'. The envelope is stamped with two postmarks, one in red: ...HERTS / PAID / 5 JLY 4; and one in black: BROMLEY / KENT. The envelope is also stamped several times with the address of: G.N.WALTER LESTER & Co. / INCORPORATED ACCOUNTANTS / 290 FINSBURY PAVEMENT HOUSE / LONDON, E.C.2. It also bears the stamp, presumably by the manufacturer, with directions for use, 'REGISTERED 'BONTUK' TRADE MARK / JOHN THOMLINSON LTD., GLASGOW, W.1.' Once contained fragments DUN/T/127.iii-x but now contains only a folded piece of yellowing paper on which is handwritten 'Chapel Silk / (odd bits)'.
