Chapel silk damask. Altar frontal to DUN/F/165. (see DUN/T/1637 as renumbered) Fabric, purple/blue/grey silk warp, blue/grey weft of heavier count, warp faced satin ground, unbalanced plain weave motifs, double white stripes in selvage; design, sunburst enclosing the sacred monogram 'I H S', palm fronds above and below surrounded by roses, repeat 947 mm; lining, blue cotton with slub, twill weave; trimming, a. blue silk fringed braid 44 mm, b. blue herringbone wool braid 20 mm; structure, hand and machine sewn, flat oblong.
