Summary
A mahogany open armchair, one of a set of eight mahogany chairs, English, early 19th century. The set comprising six standard chairs and two open armchairs [NT 926659.7 & .8]. The back of two horizontal splats, both with reeded borders, and between a pair of reeded uprights descending to outswept rear legs. The reeded arms out- and downswept, and on vase-turned arm supports. The seats drop-in and upholstered in yellow corded fabric, and raised on tapering square-section and reeded front supports. The legs joined by an 'H'-shaped and a rear stretcher.
