Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Mary Eskine, later Lady Acland (d.1892) and her sister Charlotte Erskine. 1815. Three-quartr-lengths standing, in white dresses with pink sashes, and coral necklaces; one holding a flower, the other with flowers gathered in her skirt.On reverse in ink Miss Charlotte / Miss Mary Erskine / by J Leschallas1815 / The former painted from memory under the direction of / Lady Mary Erskine. In black felt tip pen the large numeral 79.

Provenance

Acland collection at Killerton and Sprydon. Purchased by the NT at the sale of chattels of Sir John and Lady Acland at Christies on 15th May 2002.
