Summary
Studio photograph of a young man, the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1930, wearing a long light-coloured jacket, with light-coloured waistcoat and trousers. He wears a darker bow tie and dark shoes. He holds something in his hands, and stands beside a draped curtain with part of a chair visible to the right of the photograph and there is a tripod table with a book on it to the left of the picture. c.1860 Originally contained in a cardboard and blue cloth wallet containing nine (ten with LAN.PH.1574?) carte-de-visite size photographs of the Hon. Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and who continued to live in the house until his death in 1966.
