Summary
Studio portrait, three-quarter length, of a young woman, possibly Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, 1853-1921, sitting at a small table reading a book. She is wearing a dark evening dress trimmed with lace, beads and ribbons and a choker and has a plain bracelet on each arm. Provenance
Acquired during transfer of Lanhydrock to the National Trust. The Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued tolive there with his two sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The Hon. Victor Agar-Robartesd, later 8th Viscount Clifden, 1887-1974, never lived at Lanhydrock after his marriage.
