Summary
A studio photograph of the Hon. Mary Vere Agar-Robartes, later the Hon. Mrs. Yarde-Buller, (1879-1946) at the time of her Presentation, sitting on a sofa wearing pale evening dress with frills and lace at the hem, elbow length white gloves and holding a fan in her left hand. She has a necklace with crucifix around her neck. Back drop of flight of stairs and panelling. c.1897 Shown as a rectangle. Contained in a large leather folding frame containing nine photographs of the Agar-Robartes family, the pale leather decorated with gilt flowers and gilt floral edging. The photographs have been sealed into the frame with screws.
Provenance
Acquired during transfer of Lanhydrock to the National Trust. The Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued tolive there with his two sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The Hon. Victor Agar-Robartesd, later 8th Viscount Clifden, 1887-1974, never lived at Lanhydrock after his marriage.
