Summary
Studio photograph of a bearded man, the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1930, and a young fair-haired girl, his eldest daughter, the Hon. Mary Vere Agar-Robartes, later the Hon. Mrs. Yarde-Buller, 1879-1946, both seated. The man wears a tweed jacket and spotted tie and is sitting on an upholstered arm chair, the girl wears a high-necked dress with wide sash and lace collar and cuffs, a crucifix round her neck, and is sitting above her father with her right hand on his shoulder. c.1886 See also LAN.PH.5019 (888214) Red leather folding case with four panels. Each window has gilt decoration. There are three cabinet cards with albumen prints in the first, second and fourth windows. 5019 is by E. Provenance
A gift of the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust and continued to live there with his two sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966.
