Summary
Studio photograph of the Hon. Cecil Agar-Robartes,1892-1939, with moustache. He is wearing a dark jacket and tie, light coloured waistcoat and has a white carnation in his lapel. c.1912 Mounted in slide-in leather folding frame, LAN.D.199. c.1901 Photograph numbered LAN.PH.5015.8 as all photographs have individual PH numbers. One of nine photographs (collodion or gelatin P.O.P?) mounted in small carte-de-viste format. i-iii, v and viii have gilt edges to the mount and are gold stamped "E.J. Ellery 32, River Street Truro". Iv, vii and ix are signed in pencil "E.I. Ellery Newquay". vi is unsigned. All the mounted photographs are in a folding leather case. The surround for each mounted photograph has a gilt decoration on leather with a cover glass. Behind each leather surround is a layer of brown moire effect paper. - SC 2003.
Provenance
Acquired during transfer of Lanhydrock to the National Trust. The Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued tolive there with his two sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The Hon. Victor Agar-Robartesd, later 8th Viscount Clifden, 1887-1974, never lived at Lanhydrock after his marriage.
