Summary
A watercolour of Clent Hill, Hagley, showing hill with small group of trees growing on the top and path winding its way up the side. Shrubs and trees between hill and path/road in foreground. Initialled JPC. Contained in a red and green sketch book belonging to the Hon. Juliana Pole Carew, later Lady Robartes, 1812-1881, containing watercolours of Hagley Hall, the home of the Lyttelton family, Lanhydrock and Cornish scenes. Signed and dated between 1837 - 1840.
Provenance
This sketch book was found in the house after the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953. The Hon. Juliana Pole-Carew, later Lady Robartes, 1812-1881, was the daughter of the Hon. Caroline Lyttelton from Hagley Hall, and the Hon. Reginald Pole-Carew, from Antony.
