Summary
A watercolour of the church porch at Hagley looking through the porch to the park beyond. Open church door on right. Initialled JPC and dated Sept. 15 at bottom of page. Contained in a red and green sketch book belonging to the Hon. Juliana Pole Carew, later Lady Robartes, 1812-1881, containing watercolours of Hagley Hall, the home of the Lyttelton family, Lanhydrock and Cornish scenes. Signed and dated between 1837 - 1840.
Provenance
This sketch book was found in the house after the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953. The Hon. Juliana Pole-Carew, later Lady Robartes, 1812-1881, was the daughter of the Hon. Caroline Lyttelton from Hagley Hall, and the Hon. Reginald Pole-Carew, from Antony.
