A studio photograph, three-quarter length, of a balding man, Lieutenant Colonel Charles Lygon Somers Cocks (1821-1885), with dark bushy beard and wearing uniform with his left hand resting on sword in scabbard. He has a sash over his left shoulder with a monocle hanging around his neck. Contained in a very large dark brown leather photograph album with gold tooling on front, back and on spine and 'Charles Lygon-Cocks / Hys / Photographs' in gold on front cover.
Provenance
Col. Charles Lygon Somers Cocks was related to the Agar-Robartes through the Carew Pole family. He commissioned George Gilbert Scott to design his house, Treverbyn Vean, St. Neot, and William Burges to design the interiors.
