Summary
A photograph of Stockholm showing the palace which is a large flat roofed building with two wings which lies close to the water. Moored in front of the palace is a large steam yacht. An open area with trees is in the foreground with what could be a passenger ferry arriving and several horse drawn carriages waiting at the quayside. Contained in large green photograph album with gold banding on spine and corners, with thirty gilt edged pages containing seventy five photographs of European visits by F. Tupper and R. Dickinson in 1877, a continuation from album 890138 (LAN.PH.1528). Contains separate sheet of headed writing paper with list of place names visited between end of June and beginning of August (year not mentioned). Identical album to 890138.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his two sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. This album was signed by Mary Clilfden, his mother, in 1911, but is thought to have belonged to her elder unmarried brother, Reginald Dickinson.
