Summary
A Chubb's metal key without brass filling to handle, contained in a small tin money box painted black and gold, the hinged lid covered with brass plaque which reads, "Key of Catacomb / Cemetery. / Kensal Green. / 1861" . The two keys are tied with black ribbon.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. This tin contains the keys to the vault in Kensall Green Cemetery where the body of Anna Maria Hunt was buried and one of the keys bears the initials of her son, Thomas James Agar-Robartes, grandfather of the 7th Viscount Clifden.
