Summary
A professional photograph of Shepheard's Hotel, Cairo, Egypt, showing people sitting at tables on verandah with flight of stairs on right and palm trees in tubs. Two men stand on balcony above, one in uniform of the hotel, the other in pale robe with fez. Contained in a brown leather photograph album with tooled pattern on spine and front and back covers containing thirty six pages with gold blocked edges and holding seventy six photographs. c.1900
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The family were great travellers and travelled throughout Europe. Lord and Lady Clifden, and the Hons. Mary Vere and Everilda visited Egypt between 8th - 15th October 1906.
