Summary
Professional photograph of the Royal Sportsman Hotel, Portmadoc, showing a three storey building with lower buildings behind and to the right. Two horse-drawn vehicles with passengers are drawn up outside the entrance of the hotel where a group of men and women are standing. Grass and a hedge are in the foreground. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. June 1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
