Summary
Small studio photograph, head and shoulders, of a young woman, probably Philippa Mary Dickinson (1848-1887), elder sister of Mary Dickinson, her hair plaited on top of her head and over her left shoulder. She wears a dark dress with large white panel on the front of the bodice, a necklace and a locket on dark ribbon around her neck. Vignette. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. June 1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
