Summary
A studio photograph of a bearded man, the Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes, later 6th Viscount Clifden, 1844-1930, sitting on an upholstered chair with fringe around seat and turned legs and stretchers. He is wearing lightly checked wool trousers with plain jacket and waistcoat, and a watch chain. His right arm is hooked over the back of the chair and his right leg is crossed over his left. Plain background with curtain just visible on the left. See also 890097.29. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. c.1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
