Summary
A studio photograph of a young woman looking down at a baby on her knees. She is wearing a woollen dress with pleated skirt and front panel of tartan on the boidice, and a heavy chain with locket around her neck. The baby is wearing a white frilled dress with tartan sash and bows on shoulders. Curtain visible on left of photograph. On pink mount. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. c.1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
