Summary
A studio photograph, three-quarter length, of a young man with beard and moustache. He is sitting slightly across a chair with his right arm over the back and his left leg crossed over his right. In his left hand he holds a partially closed book which rests in his lap. He wears dark clerical dress and white dog collar. A striped curtain is visible on the right of the photograph, and a corner of a desk is visible on the left. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. c.1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
