Summary
An oval studio photograph of a woman, (is this Caroline Dickinson mother of Mary Dickinson, or her mother?), sitting with her right hand resting on a covered table. She wears a dress with beading and fringe on the bodice and beading above the cuffs which match the collar and has a brooch at the throat. Her head-dress has similar beading to the dress. Plain background. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. c.1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
