Summary
Studio photograph of a boy leaning against an elaborate chest of drawers with his right elbow at shoulder height resting on a box on the top. His left hand is in his jacket pocket. He wears a collarless three-piece suit, the jacket with single button at neck, and he wears dark stockings and patent shoes with his breeches. In front is a padded and buttoned leather chair with cushion. Plain background, patterned floor and a curtain just visible on the left of the photograph. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. c.1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
