Summary
A studio photograph of a young girl, probably a Dickinson, standing with her hands on the back of a tasselled velvet chair. She has her long hair loose down her back with a hairband and wears a three-quarter length dress with darker stripes around hem, down the sleeves and around the neck. Behind is a desk with casket and a full length curtain on the left of the photograph. Plain background and flooring. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. c. 1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
