Summary
A studio portrait, three-quarter length, of Caroline Dickinson, nee Carey, mother of Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, 1853-1921, sitting in a chair, her hands together in her lap and wearing dark banded dress with large buttons down front of bodice and on cuffs, and white cap with dark ribbon. Contained in a tan coloured leather photograph album, elaborately tooled in black with brass clasp and containing twenty five gilt edged pages with eighty photographs, some of the Dickinson family. c. 1870
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966.
