Summary
A studio photograph, three-quarter length, of a young woman, possibly an actress, standing behind a prie deux chair, with her forearms resting on the back of the chair. The chair is upholstered in material with flowers on dark ground. She wears a pale ruched dress with frills around the neck and at wrists and a pale band in her hair. She is looking directly at the camera. On the right is a small side table with a half a vase visible, and on the left is a large patterened curtain. The page is illustrated with a flower spray around oval with branches of yew. Contained in a faded black leather bound album, embossed in diamond pattern with gold tooling and with brass clasp.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
