Summary
A studio photograph of a young woman, Mary Dickinson, the Hon. Mrs. Agar Robartes, later Viscountess Clifden (1853-1921), sitting in a chair with her right arm resting on a table with basket of flowers, her left hand in her lap holding a rose. She wears a dark shiny dress with bustle and frills at wrists and neck and a locket around her neck. Contained in a faded black leather bound album, embossed in diamond pattern with gold tooling and with brass clasp.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
