Summary
A studio portrait, half length, of Francis Henry Dickinson (1813-1890), father of Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, sitting in a velvet chair wearing dark frock coat with wide lapels over dark waistcoat, high wing collar and dark neck tie. He wears metal rimmed spectacles, has white hair and mutton chop whiskers. Contained in a faded black leather bound album, embossed in diamond pattern with gold tooling and with brass clasp.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
