Summary
A studio portrait, slightly coloured, of a young boy, Stephen Carey Dickinson, son of Arthur Dickinson and nephew of Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, sitting in a carved chair, his right arm resting on a circular table. He wears pale shorts over dark stockings and a dark top with sailor collar and a bow tie. See also 889242.5. Contained in a faded black leather bound album, embossed in diamond pattern with gold tooling and with brass clasp.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
