Summary
A studio portrait, three-quarter length, of a young woman standing with a book in her hands. She wears a pale dress with square neckline, long sleeves with frill at wrists, and a bustle. Her hair is tied softly back and she wears a double string of beads around her neck. Similar to, or same as, 890099.15. The page is decorated with painting of palm, lake and water plants. Contained in a faded black leather bound album, embossed in diamond pattern with gold tooling and with brass clasp.
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and continued to live there with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966. The album is thought to have belonged to Mary Dickinson, later Viscountess Clifden, containing family photographs.
