Summary
A photograph of a large room with men in evening dress waiting to start dinner. The tables are highly decorated with floral arrangements and ivy, menu cards at each place setting and bread rolls on the napkins and a plate of oysters for each individual. The room has a decorated plaster ceiling with glass chandeliers, decorated square pillars, arched windows and a large glazed doorway, through which can be seen another arched window and chandeliers. The men are standing behind the tables and some are seated and they are all looking towards the camera. The Hon. Cecil Agar-Robartes, 1892-1939, can be seen seated three to the left of the central pillar. Contained in a large red and gold photograph album, inscribed C.E.A-R. 1911-1914.
Provenance
This album belonged to the Hon. Cecil Agar-Robartes, 1892-1939, who was at Magdelene College, Cambridge, 1911-1914. and was given to the National Trust in 1953 by the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who continued to live at Lanhydrock with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966.
