Summary
A photograph of eighteen young men, possibly members of the Athenaeum Club 1913. Eight are wearing caps, six wear boaters, the Hon. Cecil Agar-Robartes, 1892-1939, wears a trilby and buttonhole in his left lapel, whilst the others are bare-headed. Five young men in the front row hold walking sticks. The Hon. Cecil Agar-Robartes stands on the far right of the second row. Although there is no list on the opposite page, several of the same young men are present. Lord Althrop sits on the ground in the front, R. Gladstone is seated second from the left, the Hon. M.T. Boscawen sits in the same position, third from the right, G.W. Barclay has moved to the far right and J.P. Walker is on the far left, top row. Shrubs and a brick wall with boarding above are behind with a gravel path around the grass. Contained in a large red and gold photograph album, inscribed C.E.A-R. 1911-1914.
Provenance
This album belonged to the Hon. Cecil Agar-Robartes, 1892-1939, who was at Magdelene College, Cambridge, 1911-1914. and was given to the National Trust in 1953 by the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, later 7th Viscount Clifden, 1883-1966, who continued to live at Lanhydrock with his sisters, Everilda and Violet, until his death in 1966.
