Summary
Stereoscopic card with two similar views of the throne room at the Tuileries Palace. Two chairs on a dais with canopy and curtains above Large chandeliers hang from the ceiling. Holes are pierced in photographs on the tips of the candeliers of the chandeliers. When held to the light both pictures appear as a vibrant gold and red with some blue, and the light shows through the piercings. Both photographs are backed with another sheet of paper which has been painted gold, red and blue to correspond with the pictures. The card is embossed on the front with border of eagles, a central eagle with letter N over crown over medal. Bottom left DEPOSE c.1890 (?)
Provenance
A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953 and who continued to live in the house until his death in 1966.
